The fiberglass project

When I got the boat, it was dirty, and pretty seriously oxidized.

I contacted a company called Excel Fiberglass here in Jax that came hugely recommended. Aaron suggested that what was needed was to wet sand, compound, and then wax and buff. He told me how the fiberglass in these old Chris-Craft's was very thick (it is) and that she would shine up like a new penney.

He then told me the price.

After the paramedics finished reviving me I started working though the numbers in my head. I knew it was 100+ hours of hard work and I realized that if I was to try and take on this project myself, I would be 80 by the time it got done. Even so, I probably couldn't do the job that a professional could anyway.

So, I hired them.

What follows are some before and after photos and a video I shot. If a photo is worth 1000 words, the video must be worth 10,000; Right?

Needless to say, the guys at Excel did an amazing job. At our naming party people kept telling me how amazing the boat looked and that they just couldn't believe how great she was looking!
