Florida in the Winter

One of the benefits of being in Florida is that you can use your boat almost year-round.

After having to replace risers and manifolds last week, it seemed like shakedown cruise was in order. Saturday there was a marine flea-market near the marina, so I made a day of it with my buddy, Fred.

Immediately after starting the engine, I noticed the difference. The engine just purrrred and had a slightly deeper, throatier voice to her; much to my satisfaction. Let's face it, manifolds aren't sexy, so you should get some satisfaction out of having to replace them, right?!

We ran out into the river and I decided that left was the direction of the day. Motored down to Green Cove Springs past the old Navy docks and then decided lunch was in order, so we headed down to The Outback Crab Shack. We weren't sure what to expect, since the reviews were pretty mixed, but I thought the food was pretty good. Broiled just right, big portions, and a fair price. We got there in the middle of the afternoon, so we almost had the place to ourselves.

If you find yourself on the St Johns, near Green Cove Springs, I'd recommend this place!
